摘要征集/Call for Abstracts
Deadline for submission: 14 October 2022
Submit Abstract
The International Scientific Programme Committee (ISPC) invites you to contribute to the programme by submitting an abstract for possible inclusion in the International Congress of Human Genetics (ICHG) 2022 programme.
Please follow the abstract guidelines below, to help you through the submission process.
Abstract Guidelines
Use Arial Font 11, single line spacing and full justification for the borders.
Abstract Title:
A brief title that clearly indicates the content of the contribution (maximum of 30 words).
Please avoid abbreviations in the abstract title. Abbreviations may be used if they refer to gene names using the standardised nomenclature, and in the body of the abstract if defined when first used. Do not use capitals or capitalise words that are not nouns.
Example:
Title: This is an important African contribution to the field in terms of the APOL1 gene
Abstract Content:
Please ensure that your abstract summarises your entire contribution in one paragraph (maximum of 300 words). Do not use section headings, but ensure that the content is structured.
Diagrams, illustrations, tables, references and graphics are NOT permitted.
Qualities of a good abstract embodies the following structure:
- Uses an introduction-body-conclusion structure in which the parts of the report are discussed in order: purpose, research questions, methods, findings, conclusions, recommendations.
- Can be understood without reading the paper.
- Provides a condensed and concentrated version of the full paper.
- Does not contain citations.
- Does not contain lengthy background information.
- Should contain actual research results and should not be a study/research protocol only.
- Focus on the relevance, novelty and contribution to the field that the research is reporting.
Check grammar and spelling, sentence construction and punctuation before submission. Ensure that abbreviations are defined when used for the first time and then use the abbreviation in the rest of the abstract. Only use abbreviations if the term is used two or more times. Ask another person to carefully proofread and check your abstract for flow and content, as well as the details above.
Note: Abstracts not in the correct format will be returned to the submitting author.
Keywords:
Please indicate at least 3 keywords for your abstract. These terms will be used to help people locate your abstract using the Conference App.
Abstracts should be submitted under one of the following 15 theme areas:
- Bioinformatics & Computational Approaches
- Cancer Genetics
- Complex Traits & Polygenic Disorders
- Education and Public Engagement
- Epigenetics & Gene Regulation
- Evolution & Population Genetics
- Genetic Counselling and Health Services Research
- Legal Issues & Ethics in Genetics
- Mendelian Phenotypes
- Molecular & Cytogenetic Diagnostics
- Molecular Effects of Genetic Variation
- Molecular Phenotyping and Omics Technologies
- Precision Medicine, Pharmacogenomics & Genetic Therapies
- Prenatal, Perinatal, Reproductive & Developmental Genetics
- Statistical Genetics & Genetic Epidemiology
The African Society of Human Genetics (AfSHG) and the Southern African Society for Human Genetics (SASHG) are very proud to be hosting the ICHG 2022 in Cape Town, which will be held from 22 – 26 February 2023.
We invite you to start preparing now for what promises to be an unprecedented combination of science and destination – and look forward to meeting you in Cape Town in 2023
South Africa has a remarkable history, with the achievement of democracy two decades ago serving as an inspiration to many around the world. This congress presents an opportunity to showcase Genetics/Genomics across the world, bringing together international experts, as well as young postgraduates addressing challenges in human health and highlighting how genomic technologies are being harnessed to address such challenges.
The meeting will offer a diverse, relevant and cutting-edge scientific program, numerous educational opportunities for trainees and unprecedented networking opportunities for anyone wishing to understand the current status of genomics and human health.
Cape Town is quite simply a stunningly beautiful city and we encourage you to take a few days before or after the meeting to explore the proximal beauty of Table Mountain and the Peninsula, the Winelands, and the Garden Route. In addition, your visit to Africa should be supplemented with possible visits to other continental destinations e.g. Cradle of Human Kind (South Africa), Kruger National Park (South Africa), Okavango swamps (Botswana), Masai Mara (Kenya/Tanzania), Mt Kilimanjaro (Kenya/Tanzania), or the great pyramids of Egypt before or after the meeting.
We invite you to start preparing now for what promises to be an unprecedented combination of science and destination – and look forward to meeting you in Cape Town in 2021 – on behalf of the Executive Committees of the African and Southern African Societies of Human Genetic
