The EAES organizes a range of professional events annually to accommodate membership needs in terms of education, training, research and peer to peer networking. The EAES flagship event is the annual International Congress, which attracts on average 1500-2000 attendees and takes place in the month of June.

In addition the EAES organizes various specific discipline focused courses, hands on training events and workshops. EAES also officially recognizes and endorses educational events by independent parties.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

General information

• Original work only. Abstracts that have already been published or presented before the EAES congress will not be considered.
• Presentation format. Accepted abstracts are selected for an oral, video or e-poster presentation. We take your preferred format into account, but cannot guarantee it.
• Publication. All accepted abstracts are published in a dedicated online congress issue of the journal Surgical Endoscopy.
• Registration is required. The presenting author of an accepted abstract must register for the congress and pay the registration fee before 15 April 2027. Without registration, the abstract will not be included in the programme or the congress app, and will not be published in Surgical Endoscopy.
• Notification. Notification of acceptance, together with presentation instructions, will be sent in February 2027.
• Presenting author. By submitting, you confirm that you are the presenting author, unless you indicate otherwise during submission. You also confirm that you will be available on the date and time allocated to your presentation.

Submission steps

1. Language – abstracts must be submitted in English.
2. Title – maximum 20 words; short and specific, reflecting the objectives of the study.
3. Presentation preference – oral, video, e-poster or no preference.
4. Topic – select the topic that best fits your abstract from the list in the submission portal.
5. Keywords – select up to three relevant keywords from the list.
6. Authors and affiliations – enter all author details and affiliations, following the steps in the portal carefully.
7. Abstract text – upload your text (see requirements below).
8. Figures – optionally add up to two figures.
9. Resident / young doctor – indicate whether the presenting author is a resident in training and/or a young doctor. Both categories are eligible for awards.

Abstract text requirements

• Maximum 350 words, structured as: Aims – Methods – Results – Conclusion(s).
• No blank lines between paragraphs.
• Abbreviations are allowed in the text only and must be defined at first use.
• Do not include references or credits.

Presentation formats
