Following the second year of abstract submissions in 2023 and as part of our Young Cancer Professionals (YCP) group, we are pleased to announce this year’s European Cancer Summit’s Abstract submission process which closes on Sunday 1 September 2024 at 17:00 CEST.
General Information
Abstract submissions are open to lead authors aged 40 or younger, (and therefore eligible to join the ECO Young Cancer Professionals group). We particularly encourage lead author submissions from junior clinicians and academics. The successful abstracts will be presented at a special session within the Summit for young cancer professionals and leaders, which will take place on Wednesday 20 November 2024 in Brussels. Selected oral presentations may only be made by a young cancer professional author of the abstract submission. (Please note that applications to join the YCP group should be made separately by contacting ycp@europeancancer.org)
ECO is committed to delivering equitable and effective cancer care globally, translating the best evidence to policy and practice. Research abstracts must fit within our key Focused Topic Networks which cover all Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan priority areas and EU Cancer Mission recommendations.
The key categories are:
- Prevention, Early Detection & Screening
- HPV & Hep B
- Health Systems & Quality Cancer Care
- Survivorship & Quality of Life
- Digital Health
- Inequalities
- Workforce
- Research Policy
- Emergencies & Crises
Due to space availability, only up to 20 abstracts will be selected and displayed in the poster room during the Summit. Abstracts will be chosen to ensure representation across all the Focused Topic Networks and the lead author will receive free registration to the Summit. The best selected authors will be invited to make a presentation during a special session to be held on Wednesday 20 November. The accepted abstracts will also be published on the ECO website and, after the Summit, in the Journal of Cancer Policy.
You can find the abstracts selected from the European Cancer Summit 2023 here.

Review process
Each abstract will be reviewed blindly by the Co-Chairs of the relevant Focused Topic Network and responsible ECO Board Members. The submitted abstracts will be evaluated according to the abstract scoring grid. Please consult the provided submission guidelines and scoring grid before finalising your submission.
