Dear Colleagues, Dear Friends,

it is a real pleasure for us to warmly invite you to join the 34th Annual Conference of the European Society for Biomaterials, that will take place from September 7 to 11, 2025 in Turin, Italy. We are honored to bring the ESB meeting back to Italy since the 2005 conference in Sorrento (Naples), and the 1st ESB Meeting that took place in Bologna almost half a century ago.
The motto of the ESB 2025 conference is “Biomaterials on the horizon”. The horizon opens our mind to new and at times unexpected discoveries, and reminds us of the charming challenges of our research. The motto is inspired by the fast development of new sources for multifunctional materials, and groundbreaking technologies that enable new structures and devices that improve healthcare, prevent pathologies, and allow patient-oriented therapies.
With all this in mind, participants to the ESB 2025 will share and discuss in an exciting and dynamic environment, traditional areas of research, such as e.g. clinical translation, regenerative medicine, in vitro models, drug delivery, antibacterial treatments, but also emerging themes, such as biomaterials assisted gene and cell therapy, investigations at the (bio)molecular and cell scale, as well as crosscutting topics, such as artificial intelligence in biomaterial research, ethics, and 3Rs principle, regulatory frameworks. Particular attention will be given to the Sustainable Development Goals, in which the role of the biomaterials is increasingly relevant.
The conference will be hosted in Turin, in an historical site, the Lingotto, the former headquarter of one the most important automotive brands, FIAT-Lancia-Alfa Romeo, now Stellantis. Turin is an important industrial and cultural, people-oriented city in the vivid north-west of Italy, close to the Alps. Turin hosted the Winter Olympic Games in 2006 and the Eurovision Song Contest in 2022, and is renowned for its delicious food, fascinating monuments, and for hosting the world famous Egyptian Museum. The city can be easily reached by train, plane, or by car, and offers an excellent network of local public transport, but you will find extremely pleasant to walk around the historical venues or along the Po River.
In conclusion, we really look forward to welcoming you in Turin in September 2025 to discuss face-to-face the new developments in the biomaterial field but also to enjoy the exciting social program we are setting up for you.
