2023年第7届辐射防护体系国际研讨会(ICRP)将于2023年12月6-9日在日本东京举行，会议由国际放射防护委员会(ICRP)和日本国家量子科学技术研究院(QST)联合组织。

国际放射防护委员会(ICRP)前身是1928年在第二届国际放射学大会上成立的国际x射线和镭保护委员会(IXRPC)，1950年改为现名。ICRP是一个独立的国际性组织，为推动辐射防护科学的发展，特别是就电离辐射防护的各个方面提供建议和指导。

Friends and Colleagues, 

Welcome to ICRP 2023, the 7th International Symposium on the System of Radiological Protection.  We will be welcoming delegates, sponsors, and exhibitors from around the world to wonderful Tokyo, Japan, following previous symposia in the United States, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, France, Australia, and Canada.  It is my pleasure to thank the host of ICRP 2023, the National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology (QST). 

I’d be remis if I also did not thank our colleagues, partners, and friends at the Japanese Radiation Research Society (JRRS), the Japan Health Physics Society (JHPS), and the Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA) for their dedication, passion, and commitment to bring this symposium to light.  We look forward to our joint poster session with JRRS and JHPS which will highlight a truly global body of work. 

Since our first event in 2011, we have taken the feedback from attendees, hosts, partners, and our members to evolve and adapt our Symposia to the needs of all stakeholders involved in radiological protection.  We have listened, and ICRP 2023 in Tokyo will bring together that collective feedback in the form of a world-class programme and experience. 

The overarching theme for ICRP 2023 is The Evolution of Radiological Protection: Science and Beyond. The presentations, posters, and exhibitions will detail where our field has been, where we are now, and where it will be going in the future.  As we continue with our review and revision of the System of Radiological Protection, ICRP 2023 will detail the roadmap to the next set of fundamental recommendations that will guide our field into the next generation.   

ICRP will continue to be an “open book” and engage with professionals and organisations around the world through an unprecedented amount of in-person, hybrid, and online events.  This is going to require more financial and human resources than ever before to ensure the System remains fit for purpose for many years to come. 

In the last few years, I have been humbled to see our dedicated volunteer members, as well our colleagues from countless institutions around the world, rise above one of the most trying time periods in our lifetime.  The dedication continued, the work continued, and with it comes the confidence that no matter what, the future is bright for radiological protection.  We can work together through anything.
