Welcome Greeting

I am pleased to announce that the 24th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Clinical Oncology (JSMO2027) will be held in Kanazawa City from March 18th (Thursday) to March 20th (Saturday), 2027. This will be the first time we hold this academic meeting in the Hokuriku region, and we feel both deeply honored and humbled by the responsibility that comes with it.

The theme of this anual meeting is "Bridging our research and medical care for cancer patients." This reflects our strong desire to reliably translate the research results we have accumulated over the years into clinical practice and to deliver better medical care to cancer patients. Bridging the gap between research and medicine is an essential mission for pioneering the future of cancer treatment, and JSMO aims to be a driving force in that effort.

In recent years, cancer treatment has made remarkable progress. The pace of drug development has accelerated, and the range of patients who can be treated has expanded. On the other hand, we face a wide range of challenges, including dealing with adverse events never before experienced, soaring medical costs, patient selection to appropriately utilize limited medical resources, and caring for patients and their families in the face of increasingly complex treatments. To overcome these challenges, collaboration among industry, academia, and government is essential, and cooperation is an extremely important for the advancement of cancer treatment. JSMO2027 aims to be a forum for sharing the latest evidence, discussing challenges in clinical practice from multiple perspectives, and accelerating research and practice toward solutions.

We have chosen venue around Kanazawa Station. The "Motenashi Dome," located beneath the Tsuzumi Gate, a symbol of Kanazawa Station, will serve as the hub, housing the general registration and poster sessions. The compact layout brings together multiple halls and hotels within a three-minute walk, and corporate exhibits are positioned in front of multiple venues, creating a flow that encourages many participants to naturally visit them.
After the conference, we hope you'll enjoy a trip to the Hokuriku region, visiting the many attractions in Kanazawa City, the famous spots on the Noto Peninsula in northern Ishikawa Prefecture such as Wakura Onsen, Wajima, and Suzu, the Kaga Onsenkyo hot spring resort in southern Ishikawa Prefecture, and even the Tateyama mountain range in Toyama Prefecture and the Dinosaur Museum in Fukui Prefecture.
