In 2027, we mark forty years since the first EACS Conference in 1987. For the first time, our Conference comes to Prague, bringing the European HIV community together under the theme “Bridge Regions, Reduce Inequalities.”

Over the past four decades, extraordinary scientific and clinical progress has transformed HIV prevention, treatment and care. Yet progress remains uneven. Across Europe and neighbouring regions, differences in access, resources and implementation continue to affect the lives of people living with and affected by HIV. Addressing these inequalities requires us to connect across borders, disciplines, generations and communities.

EACS 2027 will provide a meeting place for those connections. Clinicians, researchers, healthcare professionals, community representatives, advocates, young professionals and partners from across Europe and beyond will come together to exchange knowledge, challenge perspectives and explore how scientific advances can translate into better care and better outcomes. Alongside the scientific programme, the Conference offers extensive opportunities for networking and for learning directly from peers across the European HIV community, building professional connections that continue well beyond the days of the meeting.

The scientific programme will reflect a rapidly evolving field, from fundamental and clinical research to new therapeutic and preventive approaches, comorbidities and long-term care, and the growing potential of technologies such as artificial intelligence. At the same time, the Conference will address the wider realities that continue to shape the HIV response, including stigma, human rights, equitable access to care, migration and geopolitical change.

Community engagement and the involvement of the next generation will remain at the heart of the Conference. By creating space for established experts alongside emerging voices and perspectives from different regions, The Conference aims to encourage meaningful exchange and build stronger connections across the European HIV community.

In more than 35 years of EACS Conferences, Prague will host only the third edition to take place in central and eastern Europe. The choice of Prague therefore gives particular meaning to our theme: “Bridge Regions, Reduce Inequalities.”
