Dear colleagues,
On behalf of EORNA, the Scientific Committee, and the Local Organizing Committee, we are delighted to welcome you to the 12th EORNA (European Perioperative Nurses Association) Congress taking place from 14 to 16 May 2026.
Since the first congress in 1997, EORNA has hosted congresses for its members and the international perioperative nursing community. Furthermore, our congresses have always been internationally recognized among experts in the field.
The theme for this Congress is “The Synergy of Expertise and Knowledge”. It highlights the power of combining the specialized skills and experiences of perioperative nurses with the latest evidence-based knowledge. This synergy enhances patient care, improves surgical outcomes, promotes sustainability, and fosters a collaborative environment, where continuous learning and professional development are prioritized
The 12th EORNA Congress will be held in the beautiful city of Dubrovnik, Croatia, at the Hotel Sheraton. Despite its geographic isolation due to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s short coastline near Neum, Dubrovnik, often called the “Pearl of the Adriatic” is well-connected by land, sea and air. The newly built Pelješac Bridge now offers a direct road link between Dubrovnik and the rest of Croatia. The city is also easily accessible via Dubrovnik’s international airport, Ruđer Bošković.
Dubrovnik’s Old Town has been a UNESCO World Heritage since 1979, recognized for its well-preserved medieval architecture and historical significance. Some must-visit landmarks include:
- The City of Walls – Massive stone fortifications dating back to the 10th century
- The Stradun – Dubrovnik’s vibrant main street and social hub
- The Cable Car – A scenic ride to Mount Srđ, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city and surrounding islands
- Dubrovnik Cathedral – A stunning Baroque masterpiece housing priceless religious treasures, including works by Titian and relics of Saint Blaise, the city’s patron saint
- Lokrum Island – A lush nature escape with botanical garden, a Benedictine monastery, and a small saltwater lake called the “Dead Sea.”
Dubrovnik’s cuisine blends Mediterranean and Dalmatian flavors, featuring fresh seafood, olive oil, and aromatic local herbs. Don’t miss the chance to try traditional Dubrovnik desserts and world-renowned local wines while soaking in the city’s unique historic charm.
The Board of Directors of the Croatian Operating Room Nurses Association (HDOS- CORNA), warmly welcomes EORNA, its member Associations, and all attendees. We look forward to greeting you in Dubrovnik with open arms.
The Scientific Committee has curated an engaging scientific program featuring thought-provoking presentations, dynamic workshops, and networking opportunities with fellow professionals, who share your passion for advancing perioperative care. We have created a program, that not only highlights the latest advancements in our field but also promotes learning, professional growth and environmental sustainability.
Alongside the congress, an outstanding exhibition will showcase the latest innovations, cutting-edge technologies, and advanced medical devices, offering valuable insights into the future of perioperative nursing.
We are confident that this congress will equip you with valuable insights, innovative ideas, and practical skills to enhance your daily practice. Together, we will harness our collective expertise to advance perioperative nursing standards, with patient safety at the forefront
Thank you for your dedication to advancing perioperative nursing. We eagerly anticipate welcoming you to the EORNA 2026 Congress – Europe’s premier gathering for perioperative professionals – where we will take our field to new heights together.
Experience the wonderful hospitality and scenery of Dubrovnik!
