Dear Colleagues and friends,

We are delighted to invite you to the 21st EuGMS Congress, which will take place in the vibrant and scenic city of Reykjavik, Iceland, from September 24th to 26th, 2025. Following the success of our 2024 Congress in Valencia, where we celebrated a record-breaking attendance of over 2,300 participants, we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to reunite once more in an atmosphere of connection, knowledge exchange, and collaboration.

The theme for the 2025 Congress, “New Landscapes in Geriatric Medicine” reflects the evolving challenges and innovations in the care of older adults in today’s dynamic world. Together with our esteemed colleagues on the local organizing committee, the EuGMS Academic Board has crafted an inspiring and comprehensive program designed to address the latest advancements, cutting-edge research, and clinical practices in geriatric medicine.

The congress program will offer something for everyone, including clinicians, researchers, educators, trainees, and healthcare service developers. Our sessions will cover a broad range of topics, from personalized care approaches and integrative health strategies to emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence in geriatric care. In line with the ‘Going Green’ mission of our society we will once more make use of digital congress applications such as digital posters and an interactive congress app. Sustainability goal will be reflected in the hospitality choices. This will all take place in a setting designed to foster interactive learning and collaborative exchange, we aim to provide an enriching experience that will advance the practice of geriatrics across Europe and beyond.

Why Reykjavik?
Iceland’s unique environment is a fitting backdrop for discussions about the “new landscapes” in our field. Known for its forward-thinking approach to health and wellness, Iceland provides an inspiring context to examine how geriatric care can evolve to meet the diverse and complex needs of ageing populations. Reykjavik itself is a modern and welcoming city, and we are confident it will be a memorable destination for our gathering.

Scientific program
As always, the conference will address a wide variety of topics relevant for Geriatric Medicine including clinically oriented lectures in the Core Curriculum as well as hot-of-the press research outcomes and new developments in care, such as the intersection of healthcare and technology in geriatric medicine, the innovation of care for the older patient and emerging strategies to optimize multidisciplinary care models. We are excited to bring together leading experts from Europe and around the world to share insights and foster collaboration, ensuring the continued growth and evolution of our field.

We hope that Reykjavik will serve as a place to reconnect with familiar colleagues and forge new professional relationships within our EuGMS community. Easily accessible from most European destinations, Reykjavik offers breathtaking landscapes and a peaceful retreat to recharge between sessions and activities. Whether you are a seasoned attendee or joining us for the first time, we are excited to welcome you to what promises to be an unforgettable congress experience.

Please mark your calendars and plan to join us from September 24th to 26th, 2025, in Reykjavik!
